I am terrible at logic. The dreaded “if a then b, is z true ?” questions on tests gave me that headache you get when you eat icecream too fast. We humans are adpative little creatures, so here is my “and yet” system for cheering myself up. Feel free to try it yourself.
All of the art shows I had scheduled for 2020 were cancelled and left with me with a closet full of unsold inventory. AND YET a wonderful new neighborhood gallery is opening and I will be setting up there for the October opening.
We still have 88 degree weather here and when I see views of trees in blazing fall colors I have an almost physical need for a season change. AND YET I can see the neighbors stunning yellow trumpet blossoms from my window. These large flowers even attract hummingbirds.
We are in a period of political unrest and frightening conversations abound about loss of liberty. AND YET we can choose to watch seriously lampooning of both our President and his opponent on Saturday Night Live.
My job was eliminated this past May. AND YET I have had the ability to create this website from my bedroom and do that thing that I love – to write – everyday. Logic be damned.
